some goals for 2013

in life in general, running & exercise

I know, I know. It’s February. I guess I just needed a month to get into the swing of 2013. I decided to set just a few food goals for this year. Nothing fancy, but without further ado, here are some goals for 2013:

Less sugar. I usually don’t have desserts or things, and I wouldn’t say I have a sweet tooth, but I’m talking other added sugars in the foods I eat. I;m trying to be more conscious of it at least. I listened to a story from NPR’s Science Friday earlier last week, The Fallacies of Fat, that spoke a lot about sugars and other nutrition issues. And from that…

Learn more about nutrition. As a start, I’m taking a Coursera class starting next week, Nutrition for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. I would like to know what I’m talking about when I talk about food. Not only for my own daily benefit when making choices, but also for when I talk about food here, and read about food on other blogs and across the web. It’s really easy to slap the word “healthy” and “skinny” on anything (not always the case of course, a lot of recipes out there I read are great for you I’m sure).

Post more recipes. I cook a lot, and I love it. It’s what I enjoy doing with my free time after work and on the weekends. But the majority of the time, I’m already sitting down to eat without thinking of taking some sort of photo or writing down what I did. I want to be able to have what I make on hand, for myself, and to share with others.

Quick and painless. Have a wonderful Friday and a delicious Super Bowl Sunday!! I will be making some crazy feta dip to share, which you might see here soon!
